SUMATRA

Imagine waking up to the sound of gibbons singing and orangutans swinging through the treetops — that’s Bukit Lawang, the wild heart of Sumatra! Tucked along the lush banks of the Bohorok River, this jungle paradise is where adventure meets conservation.
Go on a thrilling jungle trek, spot rare Sumatran orangutans, float down the river in a rubber tube, and feast on spicy sambal with friendly locals. It’s part wildlife documentary, part nature therapy, and 100% unforgettable.

If Bukit Lawang is the jungle’s front door, Tangkahan is its secret garden. This off-the-beaten-path gem is where you can bathe elephants, dip into hot springs, and soak in waterfalls — all with hardly another tourist in sight.
Nicknamed the “Jungle of Harmony,” Tangkahan is all about slow travel, sustainable living, and getting back in tune with nature. It’s where elephants roam, rivers sparkle, and your soul breathes a little deeper.

Upon arrival at KNO Airport (no later than 15:00), meet your guide and drive along the toll road. Enjoy views of green oil palm plantations and farmland as you head north to Bukit Lawang. Stop at a plantation on the way.

Bukit Lawang is a small riverside village and the eastern gateway to Gunung Leuser National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s home to diverse wildlife, including the rare Sumatran Orangutan.

Depending on the hotel location, cross a hanging bridge or walk along the river to reach your lodge. Lunch is provided on the way, and dinner is at the hotel.

Day 2: Bukit Lawang – Jungle Trekking (BLD)

Wake up to jungle sounds and bird songs. After breakfast, begin a full-day jungle trek with a local guide. Hike through rubber plantations and rainforest hills with chances to see orangutans, Thomas leaf monkeys, macaques, and more.

Enjoy views of the lush jungle, giant trees, and tropical plants. Return in the afternoon for dinner at the hotel. A picnic lunch is provided on the trail.

Day 3: Bukit Lawang – Tangkahan (BLD)
